Modernising Delivery of Clinical Guidelines for the Paediatrics Community

StartHQ partnered with Broadstones to deliver a modern digital platform for Partners in Paediatrics, replacing their long-standing reliance on printed Clinical Guidelines. Using Bubble as the core development platform, StartHQ created both a web application and native mobile apps designed to provide always-up-to-date, easily accessible clinical information for healthcare professionals.

The Deliverables - Responsive Web and Native Mobile Apps
About Partners in Paediatrics

Partners in Paediatrics (PiP) is a not-for-profit collaboration of healthcare organisations and clinicians committed to improving the quality, accessibility, and consistency of services for children and young people.

Funded primarily through member subscriptions, PiP supports 17 regional and national networks focused on driving innovation, promoting shared learning, and improving outcomes across organisational and geographical boundaries. PiP plays a central role in facilitating continuous improvement in paediatric care and its Paediatric Guidelines are actively used by 24 NHS Trusts across the West Midlands.

StartHQ was fantastic to work with – flexible, highly responsive and exceptionally knowledgeable about rapidly bringing apps to market. They adapted quickly to changes in scope and the resulting web and mobile applications have been extremely well received. If you are looking for a partner to build your business app or SaaS, these are the team to call.

The Problem

For years, PiP distributed their Clinical Guidelines through printed books. While trusted, these hard-copy editions created significant challenges:

  • Updates were slow, often taking years between print runs
  • Costs were high, with each new edition requiring full production and distribution
  • Clinicians lacked real-time access, making it difficult to ensure everyone was working from the latest guidance

PiP needed a modern, scalable solution that eliminated the limitations and costs of physical publishing while ensuring guidelines could be updated instantly.

Broadstones selected StartHQ as the delivery partner due to their extensive experience rapidly building business applications, their deep expertise in the Bubble platform, and their strong track record in bringing new digital products to market. Their approach was assessed against traditional software development and offered clear benefits in speed, adaptability, and cost-effectiveness.

The Solution

StartHQ used Bubble as the foundation for developing a fully digital Clinical Guidelines platform, encompassing both a web app and native mobile apps. Bubble’s no-code/low-code environment made it possible to rapidly prototype, iterate, and build out user workflows with high efficiency.

Throughout the project, StartHQ maintained a highly collaborative and transparent process with Broadstones and PiP. The team’s flexibility proved crucial as requirements evolved; StartHQ was able to adapt quickly, implementing scope changes with minimal disruption.

Using Bubble enabled StartHQ to combine fast iteration with robust product-launch capability. Their expertise in designing scalable app architecture, shaping intuitive user experiences, and navigating iOS and Android deployment ensured a smooth route to market.

The final platform includes searchable guidelines, structured content management tools, role-based access, and a consistent user experience across web and mobile.

The Result

The digital platform will transform how PiP maintains and delivers Clinical Guidelines. Key benefits include:

  • Real-time updates — ensuring clinicians always have access to the latest information
  • Significant cost savings — eliminating the need to print and distribute physical books
  • Improved accessibility — clinicians can access the guidelines on any device, from anywhere
  • Future scalability — the platform can be continuously expanded and enhanced

Feedback from PiP has been extremely positive. Stakeholders praised StartHQ’s flexibility, responsiveness, and technical knowledge, noting that the final product is intuitive, reliable, and high quality. The comparison to traditional development further highlighted the efficiency and adaptability of StartHQ’s Bubble-based approach.

Summary

StartHQ successfully delivered a modern, cost-effective, and scalable solution that replaced PiP’s printed Clinical Guidelines with a digital platform accessible via web and mobile. Their expertise in Bubble, combined with strong product-launch experience, enabled rapid development and smooth adaptation to changing requirements. The resulting app suite has been very well received, demonstrating how StartHQ’s flexible, responsive approach can transform traditional workflows into digital-first, future-ready solutions.
